[EXCLUSIVE] K-Pop Night Out at Music Matters Live 2012 Press Conference in Singapore

Music Matters Live 2012 presented the artistes of the K-pop Night Out to the media on May 23, at Ritz Carlton Hotel. Artistes present were Tiger JK, Tasha Yoon Mirae, Bizzy, M.I.B, BtoB, Clazzi, J'Kyun and Rhythm King.
It was the first time for all of the artistes to be in Singapore and performing here. They are very honoured, happy and excited. They share the same sentiments of Singapore being a clean city with great weather, although proven to be a little too hot and humid for some.
With role models such as Musiq Soulchild and Daft Punk, Rhythm King prepared five songs just for Music Matters. It was revealed that the songs were all brand new and never heard before anywhere, hence the audience at the event will have the first-hand privilege of hearing the songs, live right in front of their eyes.
Known as the Prince of Hip hop in Korea, J'Kyun had also prepared five songs of diverse genres to entertain and hype up the audiences at Music Matters stage.
Although he is here in Singapore without his band members, Clazzi had prepared a dj show with a fushion of hip hop and electronic genres to wow the audience. There will be an additional three songs performed with other artistes namely, Lee Seung Yeol, Jinsil and MYK. Being and working as a DJ in clubs, he refrains from visiting the place during his free time and would rather chill out with his friends. It is known that Clazzi does not have a main genre in his DJ mixes, even he knows that it is hard for him to pintpoint an exact genre for his music. He will be trying new styles and hopefully his listeners will find them fun and enjoyable.
Clazzi mentioned that he enjoys music from Far*East Movement and is proud as an Asian to have them be this successful globally. He also revealed that Lee Seung Yeol is someone inspiring to him, someone whom he look up to.
BtoB stands for Born to Beat, a word play on "beat", which has two different meanings. One refers to the beat of the music while the other was to be competitive, and to rise up to the top. They were impressed with the amount of fans waiting for them at the airport. Upon their arrival, the idol group found it in themselves to have fun in Singapore by going swimming and being on a boat cruise. BtoB had also tasted chilli crab, which is one of Singapore's famous delicacies. Fans will be interested to know that before their current name, they had interesting names such as Asian Team, Sonic and Arirang!
The members also showed their multi-linguistic skills by introducing themselves in Chinese and Japanese. Music is what makes these boys insane and they like the R&B, Soul and Hip hop genres. Apart from senior artistes such as Beast, 4Minute and G.NA from the same label, Cube Entertainment, they hope to collaborate with the other artistes in the room.
Tiger JK said that he had pressure on his shoulders to do well as he was one of the seniors present during the K-pop Night Out. When he broke the news that Tasha (Yoon Mirae) will be breaking into the US market soon, he was very proud and supportive of her. Tiger JK said that she really deserved the chance to do so, being able to sing and rap uniquely and is truely one of a kind.
Tiger JK believes that it is really important not to be a copycat in hip hop because if you do so, you will get no respect. He was inspired mainly by his father and Bob Marley. Tiger JK also showcased his knowledge to Singlish by saying “I didn't eat chilli crab yet lah.”
On her US debut, Tasha revealed that they met Far*East Movement at an after party for an award show and "things just kind of kicked off." Details are still being worked out but she is excited and honoured by this chance. This collaboration will be a remix to one of Far*East Movement's song with Justin Bieber, titled Live My Life.
Speaking of collaborations, a new project between Tiger JK, Tasha and Bizzy seems to be in the works. The collaboration will prove to provide high energy to its listeners and will feature Far*East Movement, including many other surprises but "basically riding on Tasha's coattails." This new project will be released in June, worldwide. With that, Tiger JK exclaimed “Look out will.i.am!"

Bizzy hopes for interaction with the crowd during their performance. Tasha told the media that Bizzy is very humble and does not really know how to promote himself. She disclosed, on his behalf, that he would be dropping a new single very soon, called Angel. The single will most likely be featuring Tiger JK and Tasha.

M.I.B (Most Incredible Busters) is a hip hop idol group, two years in the scene. They were very honoured to work with legendary hip hop artistes like Tiger JK and Tasha, who are also in the same label. Although the members were pressured at first working with them but soon felt at ease due to their seniors' open mindedness. The group seperates themselves from other idol groups because they focus more on their lyrics and the message in the song, rather than dance moves. Tasha also let out that they write their own lyrics.
Interesting facts to note about M.I.B is that they could have been known as Money in the Building or Monsters in Beats.
On that note, the press conference ended with a group photo call. The rest of Music Matters Live 2012 will be ongoing till May 26 at Clarke Quay.
